Venison Chili – This is the best venison chili recipe! Made with classic chili ingredients with instructions for cooking the stew in a slow cooker, instant pot, or on the stovetop.

Venison Chili

Venison Chili

One of the BEST things to do with venison (in my humble opinion) is to make chili with it! It is such a favorite that it was even served at my pre-wedding party last year and it disappeared so quickly!

Now this recipe can be made in the Instant Pot, slow cooker, or on the stovetop so it is totally up to you which you prefer.  I switch between cooking methods depending on how much time I have to make the chili each time.  You can also really adjust this recipe based on preference and add more beans, less beans, more tomato, etc.  Experiment with it and see what you like best!

Common Questions About Making Venison Chili

What can I serve with venison chili?

Some of my favorite things to serve with chili include –

  • Cornbread
  • Corn muffins
  • Beer bread
  • Herb quick bread
  • Cheesy breadsticks
  • Pumpkin Cornbread

What can I top my chili with?

Some of the best toppings for chili are –

  • Diced onions
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Bacon
  • Avocado
  • Cornbread
  • Sour cream
  • Green onions
  • Pickled jalapenos
  • Doritos
  • Fritos
  • Lime Juice

Is chili good for you?

Chili can be pretty good for you if you go with low sodium options for the beans, tomatoes, broth, etc.  It also has a good amount of protein from the meat and beans.

Can I freeze chili?

Yes, let the chili fully cool and then transfer it to a freezer safe bag if you would like to freeze some of it.

What kind of beans can I use in chili?

I usually stick to using light and dark red kidney beans but you can also use black beans or pinto beans in chili.

Can you use tomato purée instead of crushed tomatoes?

Went a little lite on the salt because the dr. Recommends it. But even the way I made it with 1/2 the salt still came out pretty damn good. Something I’d make again. I used instant pot and it was ready within 45mins of start.
